What is an interview pitch?
Because most of us are not yet picked up by the media, it is wise to take the plunge. With an interview pitch you approach various channels yourself to see if they are interested in a collaboration or publication.
So you literally pitch for an interview. This does not necessarily have to be an interview, but can also be a guest blog, vlog or article.
Who is the interview pitch for?
You decide, of course, to whom you send your e-mail message.
It is wise to look at what you and the other party can gain from a publication, as well as the audience of the channel in question.
By mentioning these benefits in your e-mail you increase the chance of publication of your article.
How do you write a perfect interview pitch?
The power of a good pitch lies in its creative approach. Copying and pasting standard texts might get you a nice publication, but it certainly has less effect than a personally written message.
Think of writing a pitch as a cover letter for a job that you would really like to have. You have to show the company the added value of your addition and you’re obviously never going to make that clear in a simple letter that you’ve already sent out numerous times.
Example
The pitch that got us the chance to write an article for Marketing Tribune looked like this:
“Dear,
It has been almost a year since the article ‘Influencer marketing: 10 do’s and don’t’ was published. A lot has changed in the meantime.
Influencers have made great strides. We have welcomed micro-influencers and it is not always advisable to use mega-influencers anymore. We have also seen that the engagement of influencers with content focused on one city is still growing.
Opportunities for optimizing visibility for entrepreneurs have thus changed and become more promising to such an extent that I think it’s time for a new article! As a PR expert I regularly work with influencers and could submit an article about this to the Marketing Tribune with some tips.
If there is interest I would love to hear about it.”
